Omer Brkic was born November 12, 1943 in Bosnia. A self-taught artist, his first solo exhibition was in his hometown of Bijeljina in 1972. In the following years, Brkic had exhibits in cities and towns throughout Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia. In 1994, as war was raging in Bosnia, Omer and his family fled to Germany, and a few years later to the United States.

While in Germany, Omer painted natural beauty and customs of Bosnia he remembered. These pictures represented his sadness at the loss of his homeland. He felt that Bosnia had a soul that the war has killed and that those works were all that remained.

Even though Brkic worked with various techniques and subjects, he is most known for his floral stills and landscapes done in oil with a painting knife.

More recently, Omer has been having great success with ACEOs (Art Cards Editions and Originals) on eBay. Measuring 2.5" x 3.5", they fit in any standard trading card album, as well as many standard frames.
